FLEET MANAGER
Winninger Excavating, Inc. is a growing site utility and Mass Earthwork contractor based out of Yorkville, IL. We service clients in multiple sectors of the construction Industry from Private, DOT, Industrial, Landfill, to Residential. We are committed to our core values and being the preferred contractor by choice. We are currently looking for an Fleet Manager to join our growing team.
Duties include but not limited to:
- Manage the day-to-day operations of a diverse fleet including excavators, dozers, haul trucks, service vehicles, and small tools
- Dispatching lowboy, trucking, tools, and equipment for projects.
- Develop and implement preventative maintenance programs to reduce downtime and extend equipment life
- Monitor fleet utilization and recommend equipment rental vs. ownership strategies
- Collaborate with field operations to ensure equipment availability and performance on projects
- Supervise mechanics, technicians, and equipment yard staff
- Maintain accurate records of equipment inventory, maintenance, inspections, and repairs
- Ensure compliance with DOT, OSHA, and other applicable regulations
- Lead procurement of new equipment and parts, negotiating with vendors for cost-effective solutions
- Track fuel usage, telematics data, and operational costs to identify areas for savings
- Support safety initiatives through proper training and equipment inspections
Applicants should possess:
- A can-do positive attitude.
- 5+ years of experience in fleet or equipment management in the construction industry (heavy civil preferred)
- Strong mechanical knowledge of heavy equipment and construction vehicles
- Proven experience managing budgets, vendors, and maintenance teams
- Proficient with fleet management software and telematics systems
- Understanding of DOT regulations and OSHA safety standards
- Excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills
- CDL or ability to obtain one is a plus
